Rescuing and restoring Kilifi's endangered biological relics.

Documentation of the community-centred forest restoration of three relics; Cha Simba, Pangani and Panga Ya Saidi in coastal Kenya. These limestone outcrops and caves are entwined with the Mijikenda communities that live around them. Surrounded by small patches of forest they are home to endemic, medicinal and endangered species like the African Violet subspecies.

After years of deforestation due to encroachment and increasing drought, The LEAF Charity are doing incredible work with these communities to restore these indigenous forests helping to increase rain fall, crop yields, sustainable livelihoods and conservation of culture and environment.
